Many people expect that I will have a lot of new clients in the new year. But that has rarely been the case for me. I am more likely to have new people join just after the summer holidays, in September/October or at the beginning of spring.
My theory is that during the summer, people have a little bit more time on their hands, a clearer head and start thinking about doing something new when the summer ends. Also, after winter, they are coming out of a period when we tend to stay at home more and haven’t been moving so much and there is a desire as the days get longer to get out there and get going with some movement.
I asked a couple of clients who started in the September/October period to share their experiences.
One client, Maria, started with me in September of 2020. She had managed to go on holiday in June and was due to go to Argentina in the winter (summer there). It is more image culture there than in Amsterdam and she was feeling low in energy and pressure to “get ready” for the summer. So after her holiday in June, she started the process of figuring out what she needed to get her energy back and feel better about herself. She therefore got in touch with me in August and started in September. And with 2 sessions a week, she soon found her energy returning. She also managed to crack her fear of cycling her new bakfiets (cargo bike).

A year later, Sophie started working with me. She had moved here from the USA a few months previously and hadn’t been training in the meantime. She had totally relaxed during the summer and had been eating more. At the end of the summer, she wanted to kick-start herself towards a healthier lifestyle. And now she has a consistent training programme.
Now that we are in September, did you think during the summer that it was time to start training? If so, I have a couple of slots available to you. Please email me if you want to sign up!
