I have just seen a client for the third time. We’ve already made a positive difference to her foot pain. One of the things we have corrected is her leg length difference.
When I screened her we found that she had a leg length difference (as well as a few more areas where her movement could be improved upon). She had told me that she experienced foot pain in different parts of her foot and at different times of the day.
It is important to note at this point that I don’t treat pain, I work on helping the client improve their movement.
During the first session I gave her two exercises to release muscle spasm in her pelvis and in her back. Straight away her legs became the same length. I sent her off with exercises to do every day. The next time I saw her she said she had a bit less foot pain and she had maintained having legs of the same length.
We added some strengthening exercises and I gave her more exercises for the back. I just saw her for the third time this morning and she said the foot pain is a lot better, she only feels it in the morning. She had walked a lot at the weekend and had felt it much less than previously walking this distance. She also mentioned that her back pain was less than when I first saw her.
So, it just goes to show that a simple exercise to release a muscle in the pelvis can be all it takes to reduce pain your foot.
