Given the current rules around social distancing, I quickly moved my business online. This has become my new normal for the last 4 weeks. It isn’t the first time I have done online training sessions, but they have been on occasion, for clients on business trips in hotels, or I had one client who went to the US for an extended period and trained from her Mum’s basement via skype. Training online

For my group classes, of course, the social aspect changes a bit, but the content sessions themselves doesn’t change much. Of course, we can’t go running around the park but there is still plenty of cardio mixed in. We continue to use mostly bodyweight in the sessions, however before we started I provided the some clients resistance bands so that we could still work the mid and upper back. These can be hard to do without some sort of equipment.

In my rush to both save my business and to continue to support my clients, I didn’t really think about the extra service this would be providing them. The feedback that I got was that they liked the following things:

  • The structure that it gives to their lives
With fewer appointments in the diary, clients like to have something regular in their lives, giving them something to look forward to.

  • The mental benefits
In a difficult time, it is good to get a workout in to distract ourselves from what is going on, and a boost of the endorphins created by exercise is definitely good for the spirit.

  • The feeling of being connected
Despite not physically being with each other, a live online workout still connects you with other people. You still know you are in it together with everyone else doing the session at the same time.

  • Extra sessions
Some clients are managing to fit in more training sessions into their lives leading to better fitness. For example clients have a bit more time in their schedule as they don’t have to travel too and from work. Others find that because they no longer need time to get to and from workouts they are able to attend workouts they previously couldn’t get to.group training

Extra free class:

I have added an extra class on Fridays for free that is a shorter high-intensity session. I see it as another advantage although, during the session, I am not sure my clients do haha!

People are resilient and always find unexpected advantages in any situation.

What do you think? Would you like to give it a try and join one of the online training sessions?

Classes are as follows:
